Dr
Tuppy Owens has now been invited to join the Coalition to
Decriminalise Sex Work by John McDonnell MP. He says, when
the Criminal Justice Bill is debated in Parliament in October,
he will have the chance to propose the decriminalisation of
sex work.
Below
is a copy of the letter Tuppy wrote to Mr McDonnell:

Dear Mr McDonnell,
Congratulations on forming a coalition to decriminalise sex work.
The SFC would very much like to be included in this project.
I enclose the proposals we sent to the Home Office with our response
to their Consultation Paper Paying the Price.
We believe that sex work should be integrated into general health
care. I work in the field of disability and there is a definite
need for the services of sex workers amongst disabled people.
For example, many people who survive strokes face years without
speech or friends, during which time they never get touched or
cuddled. People running homes for disabled people are struggling
find a way to cope with these situations. I try to help these
professionals through the Sexual Health and Disability Alliance.
I have started a website for disabled men and women to find responsible
sex workers. It is still in its infancy but you may like to see
it: www.tlc-trust.org.uk. Hopefully they allow you to access websites
with a sexual content in the House of Commons!
The sex workers we work with are all highly professional and choose
this work because they are good at it. Many have come from more
main stream professions.
Hoping very much to hear back from you,
-
